Booking enquiries

I want to move in! How do I apply?

Click here to fill out our application form. Our management will review your application and email you back as soon as possible.

If you accept an offer to rent, we will need a deposit and 1st month’s non-refundable rent paid in advance before we can secure the room for you.

Are move in dates and contracts flexible?

Yes!

While we give preference to students looking for leases which follow the typical academic semester dates, we understand everyone has a different circumstance and will try to make sure you have a lease period that you are comfortable with.

Please contact us if you have a question about contract dates.

Do you accept exchange students or short term lets?

Yes!

Exchange students are welcome to apply for our apartments.

If you are looking for a short term let of less than 6 months, please contact us as we consider these applications on a case by case basis.

Can I arrange a viewing?

Yes!

Please contact us to book in a convenient time for a viewing of your preferred residence and room type.

What happens if I cancel my contract?

Before lease commences:

If you decide to cancel your contract before your lease has commenced, you will have to forfeit your 1st month’s non-refundable rent. This is to cover the cost of holding the room for you. However, we will refund your deposit.

After lease commences:

If you cancel your contract after your lease has commenced, you will be responsible for paying the rent until a suitable replacement tenant takes over your lease. You will also be charged one week’s rent for additional admin fees.

How often do I pay my rent?

Rent is typically paid monthly.

Please contact us if you need any more information on rent payments.

Why do you need a bond?

A bond is paid by the student to the landlord of the property before the start of your tenancy. It is held by the Residential Tenancies Bond Authority as is the law according to the Residential Tenancies Act 1997 in Victoria, which means that it’s still your money and doesn’t belong to the landlord or Rooms International.

At the end of your tenancy the landlord may claim some or all of your bond as compensation for any damage to the property, for cleaning or for unpaid rent.

You will need to agree with any charges made against your bond before the landlord is able to take any money from your bond.

The majority of bonds are refunded in full as most students vacate our residences with no issues.

Residences and Facilities

Do you provide catering?

No, we do not provide catering. Most of our tenants prefer to cook for themselves. However, for those who would rather eat out, you have come to the right city. Melbourne is known worldwide for its food and you will not be disappointed. The choices are endless and you can find cuisines from all around the world. With new cafes and restaurants constantly opening, your only problem will be deciding where to try next.

Do you provide internet?

Internet is not included in the rent.

Carlton and Bouverie Residences have internet available in the common areas and this can be reached from most rooms. The speed is suitable for casual browsing. We recommend students set up their internet with an outside provider such as TPG, iiNET, Optus, Telstra etc. if they want their own private connection.

Students in Walsh Residence have to organise their own internet.

Setting up internet is a breeze and our management team can help you find the right internet provider!

What is provided in the fully equipped kitchens?

All our kitchens are fully equipped with fridge/freezer, microwave, gas stovetop, toaster, kettle, and plenty of storage. Don’t forget to bring some of your mum’s (or dad’s) recipes to beat those homesick blues!

Is cleaning provided?

All shared apartments (3 bedrooms +) are cleaned once a week.  This includes common areas like the kitchen, dining area and bathrooms.  While we expect all students to naturally tidy up after themselves, our free cleaning service helps ensure the apartments are kept in a clean and hygienic condition. Your own room however, is your own responsibility.

Is there 24/7 support for residents?

Yes!

We conduct our services on a personal level to make students feel more at home. Our helpful and friendly staff are multilingual and are on site during work hours (weekdays 9am-6pm, Saturdays 9am-3pm, see notice for public holidays).

After hours, we have staff on call 24/7 for any emergencies.

Student Life

I’ve never been to Melbourne before. Any advice on meeting new friends and settling into a new city?

We conduct orientation sessions for all newcomers at the start of their tenancy to introduce them to Rooms International. We also go through the ins and outs of living in Melbourne for those new to this great city.

In addition, we hold free Orientation BBQs twice a year. These are a great way to meet other students staying with us from all over the world.

Another great way to meet new friends is to join us on one of the many staff and student-led activities held throughout the year. Fan favourites include the annual snow trip to Mt Buller, beach trips down to the Victorian surf coast and horse riding in the Victorian countryside. Contact us for more information on our next adventures!
